Kobayakawa Sena, hayatı boyunca ezik bir çocuk olmuş ve her şeyden kaçmıştır. Kendisinden bir yaş büyük çocukluk arkadaşı Mamori ise her zaman ona karşı korumacı bir tavır sergilemiştir.

Sena, okul serserileri tarafından amerikan futbolu kulüp odasında kıstırıldığında tüm hayatı bir anda değişir. Kısa süre sonra, okulun amerikan futbolu takımının kaptanı Hiruma Youichi tarafından yeteneği keşfedilerek takıma alınır ve sahaların gizemli kahramanı, usta koşucu Eyeshild 21 sahalarda boy gösterir. Bu, 21 numaralı, sırlarla dolu oyuncunun gerçekte kim olduğunu Mamori de dâhil kimse bilmemektedir.
